Foundational Learning Conference 2025

The new Canadian Adult Education Credential needs local, provincial, and national advocacy on behalf of its adult learners to strive as a first step to supporting foundational learning success. This conference will serve as this community voice.

Chestermere Learning and Testing Centre (CLTC) Town Hall

This town hall will be an exciting opportunity to gather community input and build advocacy for the proposed Chestermere Learning and Testing Centre (CLTC) — a community-driven solution to address adult learning and workforce development gaps in Chestermere.

Pre-apprenticeship programming

Hilgartner Learning is moving ahead in producing hybrid courses, item banks, and workbooks for pre-apprenticeship to support access to quality fundamental training opportunities.

Mandatory Grading as an InterventionMandatory grading is frowned upon as an attack on the professional autonomy of the teacher. However, when done to support grading, it can temporarily stop incorrect or abusive practices in certain contexts. It can also be a starting point for building standards and a framework. Outside of these intents or contexts, then mandatory grading does become more of a flexing of muscles and an assumption of control and should be put down immediately.

To achieve employment or promotion or to access further education, adults need clear direction and supports. They need a learning pathway. A learning pathways advisor in the community is a person who can help this learner develop and maintain such a learning pathway and, thereby, achieve personal goals.

Artificial Intelligence Paths

With a Beacon AI Centre coming to Chestermere, choosing an educational development path related to the Artificial Intelligence field would be prudent.

A list of possible AI-related occupations serves as great guide to exploring what that path should look like.

Chestermere Training Portal

FLC and SAIT Continuing Education and Professional Studies have established an agreement to launch a corporate admin portal so that Chestermere residents can register for SAIT courses and certificate offerings. These course offerings will be offered online (synchronous and asynchronous) and in-person. FLC's Educational Pathways Advisor will be able to sign clients up based on their learning plan.

Chestermere Training Expo 2026

Training is needed in Chestermere for adult learners, new industry, and local community. The Chestermere Training Expo (https://bit.ly/cte2026) is the premiere training event showcasing the launch of the Chestermere Training and Evaluation Centre.

The Chestermere Training Expo has been cancelled. The Foundational Learning Community will reorganize and reschedule the event.

Chestermere Workforce Language Accelerator

The Chestermere Workforce Language Accelerator project will launch English language training for the workplace in Chestermere. It will provide citizens the necessary English language fluency to thrive in a skilled workforce. It will allow industry to start and grow in Chestermere with access to confident and fluent trainees ready to bring about quality and efficiency.

Players-World BuildingWorld building can become a daunting task from creating cultures, key figures, landmarks, governments, economies, and history. It can seem fruitless when players ignore this build and do not engage in it. Including ready and able players before, during, or after sessions, however, can change this trend.

This Dragon Fest 2026, the game masters rolled out the Epic Encounters with imagination. The players immersed themselves in the tales with their heroic adventurers. Merriment and victories were shared.
